Question
I need to further understand section 179. Is that more advantageous than depreciating over the year if i were to use it 4-5 years only?

Answer
Yes, generally Section 179 deductions are preferable over depreciating an asset over its life because Section 179 allow you to write-off the entire cost of acquiring certain assets in the year you begin using them.
