Question
i've heard that if i start an LLC in delaware i won't have to pay state taxes, i live in oregon. is this true? which state should i start my LLC in?
AI accountant’s answer:

Starting an LLC in Delaware does not mean you are automatically exempt from state taxes in Oregon or any other state where you conduct business. While Delaware has some favorable tax laws for businesses, such as no state income tax for income earned outside of Delaware, it does not exempt you from state income tax obligations in any other state. If you live in Oregon and operate your LLC in the state, you would likely be required to pay taxes in Oregon regardless of where your LLC is registered. This is because Oregon would typically consider your LLC as doing business within the state, and thus you'd be subject to Oregon state taxes. It's essential to consider factors such as the nature of your business, where you plan to operate, and the potential tax implications before deciding where to form your LLC. It may be beneficial to consult with a tax professional or an attorney to help guide you in making the best decision for your specific situation.
