Take excellent photos and be honest in the description of your items. Cover every base! I wish people weren't always so cheap. They want $120 item for $3. It's insane.

What I love most about reselling is finding something for a really good price and being able to turn around and make a profit from it. I also enjoy the process of finding items that other people might overlook. The hardest part is that sales can be unpredictable, and sometimes items sit for much longer than expected. Storing inventory and keeping up with listings and shipping can also become a lot of work. What advice would you give someone just starting out? Start small and learn what actually sells before buying a ton of inventory. Pay attention to sold prices, not just what people are listing items for, and always consider fees and shipping when deciding if something is worth buying. I’d also recommend listing consistently and selling on more than one platform. What would you change about your side hustle if you could? I would be more selective about the inventory I buy. It’s easy to purchase something just because it’s cheap, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will sell or make a good profit. I’d rather have fewer items that sell quickly and have better profit margins than a lot of inventory sitting around.

Depop· 5+ years in · 2 weeks agothe quote “one man’s trash is another’s treasure” is truth with this profession. i love finding unique vintage & rare finds and sharing them with people all over the world. i have met so many amazing people. to someone just starting out, i would say RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH !!! textiles, decades, designers, everything ! it will not be profitable if you cannot write a good description, take good photos, or know how to clean items.

It's a low-cost way to start since there's no inventory to manufacture, just a good eye for quality and trends. The income is unpredictable week to week, but it scales with how much time I put into sourcing, photographing, and listing, and it's rewarding to give old items a second life instead of letting them end up in a landfill.

I love the people I meet, the different brands I’m introduced to and being involved in the fashion industry in some way. I would advise to not get attached to the items that you are selling, it can be hard! I would change how long it takes for some items to sell. If items were sold right away this business would be a lot more lucrative and sustainable.
