Announcing our Series A 🚀
We’ve raised $13M to hire incredible people, make bold bets, and accelerate our mission to help the 60M US gig and creator economy workers discover their tax write-offs.
Meet our customers: a new generation of worker
The recent and continued explosion of gig and creator economy platforms have made it easier than ever for anyone, especially young people, to supplement their income with 1099 contracting. From delivery driving to video game streaming, over 50% of Gen Z workers today have some sort of 1099 hustle.
Traditional tax tools can’t handle it
This new generation of workers doesn't think about themselves the same way as the older generation of "business owners". They don't have (or want) accountants, and they don't track receipts. Unfortunately, that doesn't play nice with traditional tax software.
We're redesigning taxes for this new type of worker
We don’t expect our users to separate business and personal expenses, track receipts, track mileage, make quarterly tax payments, or even know what counts as a business tax deduction in the first place. With the state of complexity in our tax code, it's remarkable that older generations had to learn all of that.
Instead, we’re leveraging the latest advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning to simulate the experience of having a personal accountant find your write-offs for you. To date, our software has helped 100,000+ gig and creator economy workers discover and claim write-offs worth $70M+.
We’ve raised $13M to be bolder, grow faster
Building this new tax platform won’t be easy. Incumbents are huge, taxes are complex, and the stakes are high. But we love a challenge.
That’s also why we’ve raised the capital. It allows us to make bolder bets, hire incredible people, and do the right thing for our users. Rather than being tied down to incremental growth and short-term revenue optimization, we’ve given ourselves the opportunity to swing for the fences.
Backing us is some of the smartest money in the valley, including e.ventures, Matrix Partners, Foundation Capital, Lattice CEO and co-founder Jack Altman, Digits CEO and Crashlytics co-founder Jeff Seibert, and Segment president and co-founder Ilya Volodarsky.
We believe in hiring absolutely incredible people, and then giving them the tools to do their best work.
We know our employees have a lot of other attractive options (e.g. go chill out at a FAANG or start their own company) so we treat them accordingly. It’s not just unrestricted PTO and kombucha on tap, but a fundamental effort to invest in every team member’s growth and happiness.
